The treasures that Edigem Ltd. of Lucerne, Switzerland, is bringing to Baselworld have lost none of their beauty, despite their age. Quite the opposite: the antique jewellery from renowned houses such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron and Mauboussin preserve the  magic of the eras in which they were created. Here visitors can find contemporary witnesses to the Belle Époque, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Each piece is in superb condition. “We have a good network, many different partners and we also buy privately,” says Managing Director Gilles Walthert, “We get offered a lot, but we only buy and sell the best, of course.” Edigem not only trades in antique jewellery but also in gemstones such as diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds, as well as specialities such as spinel or alexandrite. The majority of these stones are also acquired from private owners. As a result, the range includes modern cut as well as old cut gemstones. Although these do not display the same brilliance of stones cut today, they have a unique character and are therefore especially well- suited to individual jewellery creations. A broad spectrum of services rounds off the range of offers of Edigem. Evaluations of jewellery and gemstones are carried out and the customers are personally advised on many issues. In addition, Edigem also offers gemmological studies. In this it works closely with independent gemstone laboratories such as the Gübelin Lab, SSEF and GIA.
