B a s e l w o r l d S e l e c t i o n / 0 5 3 3.1/C01 Circa is an international designer and manufacturer of fine gemstone jewellery and a successful gem dealer, ­headquartered in New York City. Since its establishment in the late 1980s it has been a multi-facet- ted enterprise, specialising in a number of areas. Those include jewellery made with natural various precious gemstones, ­precious metals and titanium, as well as diamonds, natural pearls, jade, rare ­collectible gemstones and vintage and ­antique jewellery. Its worldwide network of clients include designers, wholesalers, and collectors. Business was good for Circa in 2013. “Over- all sales of our gemstones increased and our limited, one-of-a-kind jewellery for custom- ers worldwide is doing well,” says CEO Sam Khafi, a third generation gemstone mer- chant. “The super-light and strong ­titanium alloy we use allows us to create special ­pieces that wouldn’t be ­possible with the standard noble metals,” notes Khafi. In its precious gemstones business, the company regularly introduces new ­materials, new cutting styles and ideas of fashioning. “Our varied and specially-cut and fashioned inventory of gemstones and diamonds always offers our clients an ­opportunity to advance their own ideas, creations and fashions,” Khafi says. All stones and raw materials used by the company come from ethical and trusted sources in non-conflict regions, in adher- ence with the Kimberley Process protocols. At Baselworld 2014, Circa is introducing new jewellery designs, rare cobalt blue ­spinels and designer jade carvings.
