The eye is culture and culture is the eye,” he explains. The company was founded in 2005 in Geneva and has been specialising in stones, jewellery and rare items ever since. For example, it offers enamel belt buckles de- signed by Jean Dunand in 1925 featuring an unbelievably modern design. “You have to be daring in this profession. You have to have a modern vision of old objects.” The company also humorously presents an unsigned Rooster brooch from the start of the last century featuring a sapphire as the body and diamond plumage with an amusing enamel head. “This is the diversity of jewellery creation.” Larengregor recently began acquiring jewellery from the 50s and 60s as well as having great admiration for René Boivin pieces from the 1920s to 60s. “Boivin is the dream and its simplicity is elegance without modernity,” says Sitbon. In terms of jewellery artists, the company offers items by Calder and wooden jewellery by Catherine Noll. Its clients include both big collectors and museums. For example, during the Art Déco and Avant-garde exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris in 2009, Larengregor presented an unbelievable brooch by Jean Deprès which was also featured on the exhibition poster. “Our difference is reflected in our quest for pieces – both signed and unsigned – with strong designs, delicate manu- facturing and impeccable stone quality which is our primary profession.” In terms of precious stones, Jacques Sitbon only selects natural untreated stones such as sapphires from Kashmir, rubies from Burma and emeralds from Colombia. “When it comes to stones, nothing beats natural!” he concludes.
